My Thoughts rug

I made this rug a few years ago and it was photographed at our last house. Now it is between our beds and is gorgeous to step onto first thing in the morning. It is called My Thoughts because apart from the red sun, nothing else was planned, just laid colours I thought matched or blended. It is almost 6ft long by 3.5ft wide.

Lest We Forget

At this time of year we all have a debt to pay for those who fell, without their sacrifice perhaps we may not even be here, I think most of our families have been touched by war at some time, so God Bless all the fallen, may you rest in peace.

The 7 Ups...

The 7 Ups!

1. Wake Up !!

Decide to have a good day.
"This is the day the Lord hath made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalms 118:24

2. Dress Up !!

The best way to dress up is to put on a smile.
A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
"The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.
Man looks at outward appearance,
but the Lord looks at the heart."
I Samuel 16:7

3. Shut Up!!
Say nice things and learn to listen.
God gave us two ears and one mouth,
so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking.

"He who guards his lips guards his soul."
Proverbs 13:3

4. Stand Up!!

. . . for what you believe in.
Stand for something or you will fall for anything.
"Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time,
we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good..."
Galatians 6:9-10

5. Look Up !!

. . . to the Lord.
"I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me".
Philippians 4:13

6. Reach Up !!
. . for something higher.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and lean not unto your own understanding.
In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path."
Proverbs 3:5-6

7. Lift Up !!
. . your Prayers.
"Do not worry about anything; instead
PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING."
Philippians 4:6

A POSITIVE THOUGHT

If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.
If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.
He sends you flowers every spring, and a sunrise every morning.

Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen.
He could live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.
What about the Christmas gift He sent you in Bethlehem;
not to mention that Friday at Calvary.
Face it, He's crazy about you.

Invite people here that you care about.
I thought this was mighty special, just like you.
Pass this on and brighten someone's day, and remember . . ...

God answers e-Mail prayers ....

Touch a Woman's Mind

~~Touch a womans mind, you get her interest. Touch her heart, you get her love. Touch her soul, you get passion beyond your wildest dreams. Touch all three, you have found your soulmate for eternity.~~

Spooky Altered Tin

I am repeating myself here, because this same photo is on my main blog, Ed's Place but since this is really my space for altered bits and bobs, I thought I would post it here too !! BOO !!

WHEN I GET OUT OF HERE~~~~

Someone's gonna pay for this !!!!

I saw this photo and just couldn't resist copying it. When we lived abroad I sort of adopted (or they adopted me!!) anything between 30 and 40 feral cats - all trapped and neutered or spayed and very well looked after - but I know they can be deadly fighting machines when they are scared ........here's looking at you kiddo ..
just look at those eyes !!!

Misty Morning on the Beach

It was so misty when we walked our dog that we couldn't see across the estuary.

I said a Prayer for You Today.

I said a Prayer for you Today,
And know God must have heard,
I felt the answer in my heart,
Although He spoke no word.
I didn't ask for wealth or fame,
I knew you wouldn't mind,
I asked Him to send treasures
Of a far more lasting kind.
I asked that He'd be near you,
At the start of each new day,
To grant you health and blessings,
And friends to share your way.
I asked for happiness for you,
In all things great and small,
But it was for His loving care,
I prayed for, most of all.

Altered Book - ongoing project..

I decided to post a few pages of my latest project - can't believe I am actually saying this because up to a few months ago, I hadn't altered anything at all, ever !!
I have started off with an easy book - a very small Find the Word puzzle book - El Cheapo - that way, if I ruin it, I have't lost anything. Looking at the pages as I have scanned them, I realised I am using more green and blue than anything else - must have a word with myself to change things..I need to go over to pinks and oranges and lemons for a change.

AUTUMN by John Clare

I make no excuse for copying this poem down complete, it is one of my favourites and brings back a lot of happy memories.

AUTUMN by John Clare

I love the fitful gust that shakes
The casement all the day,
And from the glossy elm tree takes
The faded leaves away,
Twirling them by the window pane
With thousand others down the lane.
I love to see the shaking twig
Dance till shut of eve,
The sparrow on the cottage rig,
Whose chirp would make believe
That Spring was just now flitting by
In Summer's lap with flowers to lie.
I love to see the cottage smoke
Curl upwards through the trees;
The pigeons nestled round the cote
On November days like these;
The cock upon the dunghill crowing,
The mill sails on the heath a-going

John Clare (1793 to 1864) was an English poet from rural Northamptonshire, and is now regarded as the most important English poet of the natural world.

My Soul Journal, more pages ..

At last I have time to post some more of my Journal pages. There are four pages I want to unveil to the world or, in other words, show my friends, Not sure of the proper names for these pages, but, as with my other pages, they are all my own work and words too, there is my Name Page, whereby I have made the Journal totally mine, there is my Scribble Picture page, sort of Inner Me thing, I scribbled with an old blue cats eye ink pad and saw a face in the resulting scribble.........then there are two pages of My Favourite Things. Now the official version of Soul Journal has these pictures in 9 equal sized squares, but since nothing in my life is tidy or organised or even perfectly shaped, then neither are my picture pages ...

Altered Tin, Saturday Workout challenge.

This was a small tin that was filled, once upon a time, with toffees, and bright yellow with Bart Simpson plastered over it. I changed the image totally (I hope) with Butterscotch, Lettuce and Cranberry Alcohol inks, and a few tiny stamped flowers stamped with Stazon. I embellished with peeloffs, top and sides, but used a clear glue to make sure they stuck down forever, and finished off with tiny clear jewels. The central embellishment was an acrylic flower, but because the tin was quite dark, though not as dark as the scan shows it, the flower didn't show up, so I stamped a tiny flower on top as well.....This is also the challenge for Saturday Workout. Here is the Link.

Getting Older and Wiser ..

Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect.

It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections.

***

There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it.

For example, I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt...

A very Special One

There is a pain that's burning
For you've lost your precious one.
And you will wonder how you'll cope
Through days and nights to come.

Believe there is an answer,
And it lies within your heart,
For that is where he/she is now,
And you'll never be apart.

In time, with help from those around,
The pain will soon become
A glow of happy memories,
Of your very special one.

Dust if you must ......

Remember...a layer of dust protects the Wood beneath it.

'A house becomes a home when you can write 'I love you' on the furniture.'

I used to spend at least 8 hours every weekend making sure things were just
Perfect - 'in case someone came over'
Finally I realized one day that no-one came over; they were all out living life and
Having fun!
NOW, when people visit, I don't have to explain the 'condition' of my home .

They are more interested in hearing about the things I've been doing while I
Was away living life and having fun.
If you haven't figured this out yet, please heed this advice.

Life is short. Enjoy it!
Dust if you must ........

But wouldn't it be better to paint a picture or write a letter,
Bake cookies or a cake and lick the spoon or plant a seed,
Ponder the difference between want and need?!
Dust if you must, but there's not much time . . . .

With wine to drink , rivers to swim and mountains to climb ,
Music to hear and books to read, friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must,

But the world's out there with the sun in your eyes,
The wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come around, again.

Dust if you must ,
But bear in mind, old age will come and it's not kind. . .

And when you go - and go you must - you, yourself will make more dust!

Soul Armour

Thought about my armour last night, talking to Sue, and came up with a fish. Never transparent, but completely water-tight, can only be completely at home in own environment - sort of sounds like me. My craft room is my own environment - I constantly lose things, get totally frustrated at times, but it's mine and I can close the door on my mess, because it is just that .......MINE !!

If tomorrow starts without me ......

If tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
all filled with tears for me;

I wish so much you wouldn't cry
the way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too;

But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
that an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand,

And said my place was ready,
In heaven far above ,
And that I'd have to leave behind
all those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye,
For all my life, I'd always thought,
I didn't want to die.

I had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do,
it seemed almost impossible,
that I was leaving you.

I thought of all the yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad,
I thought of all that we shared,
And all the fun we had.

If I could relive yesterday,
Just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you
and maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realized,
That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,
would take the place of me.

And when I thought of worldly things,
I might miss some tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
My heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne,

He said, 'This is eternity,
And all I've promised you.'
Today your life on earth is past,
but here life starts anew.

I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
and since each day is the same way,
There's no longing for the past.

So when tomorrow starts without me,
don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart '

Love and Friends

Love starts with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a tear.

Don't cry over anyone who won't cry over you.

Good friends are hard to find, harder to leave, and impossible to forget.

Don't let the past hold you back, you're missing the good stuff.

BEST FRIENDS are the siblings God forgot to give us.

When it hurts to look back, and you're scared to look ahead, you can look beside you and your BEST FRIEND will be there.

Nobody is perfect until you fall in love with them.

The beginning of a new me.

This is way out of my comfort zone. It is an exercise of soul searching - finding the inner me, the real me, the bit that wants to be wanted for myself, not for what I can do or give ........the purely selfish bit of me, because I share too readily with others, but not this bit .........

It will eventually become a book - a real journal - landscape not portrait just to be different - so all those of you who visit me are more than welcome to come back as you will and observe what I have found out about myself, and because I am so new to all this, any help you care to give or comments you care to make will be greatly appreciated ....

I was inspired by two very wonderful people, whose blogs are amazing. Their collages are so beautiful and their work inspirational. Enough gushing.......

The first two pictures describe me - good days and bad days. I suffer from arthritis so those of you who also suffer, know about good and bad days. I have called them Magic Moments and Mind Games, you will see which is which ......please enjoy them..
